Prairie Fire Pottery is the studio and showroom of North Dakota potter Tama Smith. We’re located in Beach, ND (pop. 1100), a small rural town one mile from the Montana border. Prairie Fire Pottery is highly prized by pottery enthusiasts and collectors for its unique and vivid glaze colors. Each piece is handmade and fired to 2400° in a reduction atmosphere within an 85 cu. ft. cart kiln. High-fire pottery is typically not associated with the production of color, which makes this work all the more rare and intriguing. All the glazes are handmade from scratch using original recipes and are lead-free, food-safe, and microwavable.
