Throwing a Large Handmade Bowl

In this two-part video Tama demonstrates a technique for throwing a very large 20 pound bowl. The video, though very instructive, is known more for the cat fight that breaks out in part two. Be forewarned.

Nessie, our studio cat, is normally a sweet kitty. But woe be to any cat that invades her territory, as Foster finds out. In the final shot you’ll see sweet Ness, still fuming from the incursion.

Interesting technique! Thats an awful lot of clay, I think it’d just scare me on sight to throw that much!

Thank you Tama for making this video! As a student studying ceramics, it is always great to be able to see videos from successful artists.

I tend to be nervous when throwing large amounts of clay, but have never tried this technique. I will definitely try this method.

Very cool technique Tama – thanks for sharing it.

  4. Haha, the cat is good but should not detract from the main selling point of the video, which, for me, is the amazing skill with which you seem to be able to manipulate an inordinately huge amount of clay.
